An event success!

pantry-to-plate-castPantry to Plate Chefs’ Challenge is one of Orlando’s most unique foodie events of the year. On September 18, over 200 people attended JFS Orlando’s annual fundraiser at the Winter Park Civic Center.  This event featured three fantastic local chefs and challenged them to prepare a gourmet recipe by using ingredients inspired by JFS Orlando’s Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry. The three participating chefs included, Francesco Aiello, of Francesco’s Ristorante, Mark Baize of Roy’s Restaurant and Julie Casey of Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen. To see more pictures, click here.

The event’s fantastic hosts, Maxine Earhart from Maxine’s on Shine and Central Florida News 13’s Allison Walker Torres were back again to entertain all the guests. Judges include the winner of last year’s Pantry To Plate Chefs’ Challenge  People’s Choice Award Isabella Morgia Di Vicari, co-owner of The Meatball Stoppe, Lauren Delgado, the food reporter for the Orlando Sentinel and the Director of Food and Beverage for Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa, Peter Vossenberg.

In addition to the delectable meals, the event featured unique silent auction items with all proceeds going to support the mission of JFS Orlando to provide vital, high-quality and innovative services to people in need, of all faiths.

Once dinner was complete, the attendees gave the People’s Choice Award to Chef Julie Casey for her balsamic chicken and hash dish, while Chef Francesco Aiello was given the Judge’s Choice Award. But the real winner of the night was JFS Orlando and the programs they offer to serve our community each and every day! For more information about JFS Orlando, please visit

Isabella’s One Pot Primavera Pasta

DSCN0477Meet one of our talented Pantry to Plate competitors: Isabella Morgia di Vicari, owner of the Meatball Stoppe. Isabella stopped by the JFS Orlando Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry with a generous donation to our Summer Food Drive! Did you know, during the summer months, JFS Orlando provides roughly 40% more families with food from the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry? Once school is out, Central Florida students who depend on free and reduced lunches will no longer have access to proper and nutritious food. We need your help keeping the pantry stocked so JFS Orlando can continue to feed hungry families and individuals.

Isabella’s donation included ingredients needed to create her “Mamma’s Signature Dish Pasta Patate”. Our mouths are watering just by reading the recipe! Make sure to stop by The Meatball Stoppe located at 7325 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, 32822 to try Isabella’s delicious, savory selection of Authentic, Specialty Meatballs!
